ABOUT ST. JOHN'S

Rooted in the Community
Established in 1832, St. John's has played an important part in the life of Bowmanville.  We offer a tradition of solid values and biblical vision to meet the needs of a busy, modern world.  We are proud of our history, but our focus is on the present and the future.

Our Style and Philosophy
We believe that church should be enjoyable.  At St. John's we help people to make sense of their lives and provide practical guidance for living good times.

An informal celebration of worship is offered Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in an easy-to-follow format.  People of all ages are welcome to participate in worship and learning and serving.

Our 10:00 a.m. service includes uplifting music and message, and special programs for children and pre-school ages up to and including high school. Refreshments follow the morning service.

Variety of Worship
In a noisy world there is a place of stillness to meditate and collect one's thoughts.  A service of Holy Communion from the Book of Common Prayer (1962) is said each Sunday at 8:00 a.m.  The church is open at other times for silence and payer.  Our Wednesday midweek service is at 9:30 a.m. (September to June.)

Praise and Worship
Several times a year we present an evening of praise and worship with a dynamic guest speaker on a timely topic.  The ministry of healing is offered at these special services and each Sunday morning.  God's power changes lives.

For Newcomers... We offer a membership course called "Connections."  It's offered after our 10 o'clock services on Sunday or in a weekday evening format.

Men's group, Women's groups, youth groups, and other small groups that provide an environment for spiritual growth, mutual caring and deep friendship.

Camping trip, golf tournament, spring fair, Snowflake Bazaar and other special events throughout the year, along with many opportunities for ministry, community service, new friendships and local/global outreach.

We help people deal with the big questions of life - questions of purpose, meanings and values in an understandable way.
